Teaching

My teaching philosophy has been shaped by two highly discussion-based approaches to management education: the case method I experienced as an MBA student at the Darden School of Business and the undergraduate tutorial system in which I taught at the University of Oxford. In both settings, I see the instructor’s role not simply as providing information, but as helping students develop, articulate, and revise well-reasoned positions under conditions of ambiguity.

In the classroom, I emphasize preparation, structured participation, and respectful disagreement. My goal is for students to understand not only what conclusion they have reached, but the assumptions and evidence supporting it, the conditions under which it applies, and what new information might lead them to change their view. I aim to create an environment in which students with different levels of confidence and classroom experience have meaningful opportunities to contribute.
